About Gecko Press
Gecko Press, founded in 2005, is a New Zealand-based independent publisher of curiously good books from around the world.
We publish children’s books by some of the world’s best illustrators and writers. We choose books rich in story, illustration and design, with a strong heart factor – books we think children and the adults reading to them will want to read hundreds of times.
Every year we publish around 12 titles in the US, carefully selected from our main list. Our authors and illustrators include New Zealanders Joy Cowley and Margaret Mahy; Marc Boutavant from France; Leo Timmers from Belgium; Komako Sakai from Japan; Barbro Lindgren, Eva Eriksson, Ulf Nilsson from Sweden; and Ole Könnecke from Germany. We currently have some 40 titles on our US list, ranging from board books to novels..
Many of our titles are available in both print and digital formats. We choose paper and bindings carefully, because we want the books to have a long life. The aim of Gecko Press is for all children to love to read.
