Join Lerner Publishing Group
in Celebrating Our 50th Anniversary!

The end of this school year marks the 50th Anniversary of Lerner Publishing Group. The company started with four titles published primarily for children to read at doctor's offices to comfort them about common childhood illnesses (some of which have been nearly eliminated thanks to vaccines). Right away, schools and libraries proved to be the better customer group for this company!

Today, Lerner Publishing Group is one of the largest independently owned publishers of books for children and teens in North America, releasing 300-plus titles each year and employing more than 200 people. We have enjoyed supporting librarians and teachers in educating kids around the world for fifty years!

Tenacity Well Directed — The Inside Story of How a Publishing House Was Created and Became a Sleeping Giant in It's Field — Well, Not Exactly
by Harry Lerner

ISBN: 9780761340751
$9.95 (Paperback)

Here is an intimate look at a time when you could turn an idea into a successful publishing house and stay independent. And there's considerably more—insights into the making of books from typesetting to book binding to selling in a crowded marketplace.

Founded in 1959 with four books, Lerner Publishing Group a half-century later has more than four thousand books in print and releases more than three hundred new titles each year. Lerner Publishing Group is now one of North America's largest independent book publishers for children and young adults.

This is Harry Lerner's story, about a publishing generation we'll never see again.
